Live edge wood slab is flat sawn lumber without further edging process, the edges of the lumber is left in its natural shape. What is our live edge furniture made of
Our live edge wood slabs is made of raintree or monkey pod in some country, the botanical name is Saman Samanea. A fast growing hardwood with interlocking grains which make it strong and durable.
Also known as Trembesi or Suar wood in Indonesia, it is planted as road shade in some of highway along Java island. Indonesian state infrastructure development and road widening projects in recent years have made many of the raintree wood felled.

Flat sawn into thick planks.
Although raintree wood is strong, the interlocking grains nature and plain sawn method used to cut the log into lumber can cause warping problem when the lumber is not thick enough. This makes the wood sawn into thick single piece solid wood plank that usually used as top leaf of dining tables, confrence tables, counters, and desks.
